Bits of Black History

Compromise of 1850

"Herded like cattle into cages, we were paraded for inspection on filthy stages. At slave auctions, family did not exist; babies were torn from their mothers' tits and sold or tossed aside like bits of garbage. Like horses, broken to bit, we submitted to being the caged asses of southern plantations." Caged Asses by Dot

A fierce national debate grew out of southern slave states' fear that the admission of free states into the Union would diminish their influence and power; it culminated in the 1850 Compromise. Sen. Henry Clay (KY) introduced the measure on January 29, 1850. It admitted California to the Union as a free state; it required the remaining Mexican cession be made territorial governments without slavery restrictions. It asked Texas to yield in its New Mexico boundary dispute with federal compensation and proposed abolishing the slave trade, but not slavery in the District of Columbia, and it recommended more effective fugitive slave laws.

Southerners approved the Fugitive Slave Act, while condemning the remainder. The "Georgia Platform" epitomized their position. Georgia supported the Compromise so long as the North enforced the Fugitive Slave Act, made no effort to abolish slavery in DC or act to deny statehood to any state that wanted to have slavery. If these conditions were not met, the Georgia Platform vowed the state would protect its rights, even if it meant seceding from the Union.

Today, Gov. Roy Barnes' commitment to make Georgia the firewall against efforts to remove Confederate symbols from public places is reminiscent of its1850 southern slave tradition. As symbolized by the Confederate flag, southerners demand a place of honor for their brutal heritage. Symbols say much about the people who adopt them. So, even in Germany, symbols of Nazism are not given a public place of honor.

Disgruntled feels: House niggers are the nickel chasers caught on camera catching a cab to head-off home boy's demonstration!

Disgruntled says: Claiming to save precious political capital, Rep. McKinney sanctioned Roy Barnes' Great Train Robbery. Then, she squandered it to have her name on a sign above a piece of pavement!

Disgruntled wants to know: As the Confederate flag controversy rages, Georgia's Black Legislative Caucus is silent. A powerful group, its members head committees where flag bills languish. Told not to bring the issue up, they obeyed Governor Roy Barnes' instructions. Did Rev. Barnes also deliver his sermon to black preachers, Georgia's NAACP, SCLC and those other organizations claiming to represent black people?

Co-InTel-Pro

by John Burl Smith

Through the looking glass, Alice learned what she was taught about the world was not how it worked at all. Trapped in wonderland, blacks must continually relearn their docility supports their subjugation. Nat Turner, Denmark Vessey, David Walker and many others show all were not passive. The truth is local, state and federal governments used black codes, lynching, as well as massacres like Greenwood OK and Rosewood FL to force blacks to accept second class or die!

Co-InTel- Pro (Counter-Intelligence-Program) was one such action. Beginning in the late 1960s United States government agents used CO-InTel-Pro to destroy the Black Power movement. The Committee on Un-American Activities during "The Red Scare" and "McCartyism" deemed black activism, which called for full participation as citizens, subversion and a threat to national security. Black Power developed in response to years of lynching, segregation, sharecropping and institutionalized racism. Rejecting Booker T. Washington's "Atlanta Compromise" and second class citizenship, Black Power changed our mind set about the black man's condition.

Recruiting thousands of young blacks from colleges and the military, the FBI taught them counter insurgence techniques to disrupt meetings and marches, infiltrate groups, destabilize organizations, assume leadership roles and entrap leaders in drugs deals. FBI agents killed those they could not corrupt and/or imprison. Beneath all its legal trappings, Co-InTel-Pro was a government organized lynching party maintained by blacks who today occupy leadership positions in black communities.

The sanitation strike in Memphis and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination was a test run for Co-InTel-Pro. Black provocateurs, government agents, military units and bought niggers on his staff coordinated a national lynch. Dr. King's death was the death knell for Black Power. Its advocates became targets of opportunity, as the FBI unleashed a murderous reign of terror on its leadership.

Not the first time, the United States government conducted a campaign of extermination to stop black economic and political progress or simply to cull our numbers. America's government prevents blacks from developing independent of white control. Synonymous to Alice's plea for justice, Dr. King was replaced by the "Queen of Hearts." Black leaders today are not talking about developing black independence. They preach diversity, a code word for "integration." These "house niggers" are leading black people back to Booker T. Washington's second class status and like Alice, they are again tumbling down the rabbit hold. What happened to Co-InTel-Pro? John 2000

Politics 2000

Marty on MARTA

Marty King sits on Governor Barnes' Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA), which swallowed up MARTA and consumed its transportation dollars. Stealing money and train from South DeKalb, a Barnes' directed legislature passed a bill to extend the life of the MARTA sales tax paid only by DeKalb and Fulton taxpayers until 2047. Marty said nothing!

Created by referendum in 1971, MARTA imposed a 20-year sales tax obligation. Without referendum, the legislature extended it, which is taxation without representation. Forcing DeKalb and Fulton taxpayers to pay for MARTA, while our train and its economic development is diverted to where the tax is not imposed, should be against the law. Marty, head of the SCLC sits on GRTA's board and says nothing!

Pavlov's Dogs

In a display of doggy cowardice, worse than being silent, two days before Georgia's legislative session ended, Rep. Tyrone Brooks, a black state lawmaker, suggested students hold a flag rally. Knowing it was too late to get any bill out of committee, any rally would have saved Georgia blacks from the dubious distinction of having had no flag demonstration.

Truth is, scion of the Confederacy, Barnes pledged to keep blacks in line and Confederate symbols in public places of honor. Like Pavlov's dog on command, all the black leaders obeyed. Some appeared in the press talking about thinking about doing something next year. Yellow dogs, Georgia's blacks will not act. Cowards, they would put off breathing until white folks gave them an all clear. Starving for air, when told to breathe, it will be too late to capitalize on any momentum, leaving us stuck saluting racist symbols!

House Nigger 102: Boyz and Y2K Toms

By Dot

For more than thirty years, blacks have operated in a leadership vacuum. There have been preachers galore, some charismatic, but none spoke to the heart of the black man's problem. Like Republican Presidential candidate Alan Keyes, even our most educated "leaders" believe the Declaration of Independence's noble principles are codified in the US Constitution.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s death left no one around whom blacks could rally, not that we united behind him. Only in hindsight did many see Dr. King's non-violence movement in a positive light. Most followed Booker T. Washington's philosophy, which called for blacks to accept a second class social status.

Washington's Atlanta Compromise (1895) advised against social agitation, when individual actions, like Rosa Parks and sanitation workers', propelled Dr. King into prominence and led to Civil Rights legislation. Because these laws did not amend the Constitution, they fell short of fulfilling King's promised equality. Those claiming his mantle quit pursuing his promise.

Busy chasing nickels, neo-black leaders follow Washington's philosophy, which made him and subsequent believers Uncle Toms. Today, black leaders are either boyz in training or Y2K Toms. The last vestige of tomfoolery rests in former Atlanta Mayors Maynard Jackson and Andrew Young, Marty King, heir to Dr. King's legacy, and other blacks of consequence. Members of Barnes' Kitchen Cabinet, they do not participate in daytime brainstorming sessions. Calling at the governor's mansion under cover of darkness, boyz and Y2K Toms use the back door to gain entrance. In Washington and Alonzo Herndon's lifetimes, they were called boy, nigger or worse, when they showed up to sell out black folks. Washington's Compromise advised blacks to seek economic security, rather than engage in social agitation for a change in their condition. Foolishly, he believed economic security possible, without individual liberty. Every black of consequence since, including Dr. King to some extent, embraced Washington's Atlanta Compromise, which is drenched in conditioned subordinate psychology (CSP). Today, blacks that adhere to Washington's Compromise display that peculiar aspect of the slave mindset or CSP we refer to as boyz in training or Uncle Toms Y2K.

Hood Notes

"Stolen Generation"

Called a racist, Australian Prime Minister John Howard is heckled wherever he goes these days by members of the "stolen generation, " a term white apologists claim is a misnomer. Howard is accused of downplaying the number of Aborigine children stolen from their families and put into orphanages or white homes from 1910 to the 1970s. Commonly known as the ''stolen generation,'' government numbers indicate only 10% of Aborigines were taken from their families under the racist policy; modest estimates range higher.

The "lost generation" promise violent protests during Sydney's 2000 Olympic games in September to draw attention to their plight. Meanwhile, so-called Aboriginal leaders downplay that promise. Like American Indian and slaves' descendants, the Australian Aborigine faces genocide. Ironically, their leaders' slave mindsets aid their demise. T.H.I.N.C. about it!

DISHing It Up Hot!

Uncle Toms and Boyz Killed Big Mo'

By Dot

Remember the big momentum on affirmative action? House niggers killed it! Ironically, it may be best. Now, we know these headless chickens are dedicated to selling us down the river! When individual actions create some momentum, expect them to preach, "Let's think about this." As expected, the Atlanta Compromise playbook players pulled out all the stops and brought out the big guns in the flag fight.

Our own half-white house nigger, former Atlanta mayor Maynard Jackson, joined Marty King, head of SCLC and son of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to speak about the Georgia boycott. Marty claimed SCLC was thinking about boycotting Georgia next year, while Jackson sang a familiar litany called "Do nothing is to do right by Atlanta!"

Maynard and Marty conveniently ignored the logical move called by The DISH to build on the momentum created by the Centennial High School flag vote and the groundswell evident in South Carolina, Mississippi and Georgia. Neo-slave leaders, these boyz in training and Y2K Toms aim to kill real momentum!

Intuit's Weekly Vibe

Breathe

by Yohannes Sharriff Smith

You got to breathe... Straight out of 1975,

Afromantic Aquarian is crafting ever-green alchemy

So fast that time flips backwards

I emit infinite life. (Trumpets...)

It's S O U L T R O N!

Mentally figuring '99 mathematical thoughts

Like prayer beads, applying Wuu-Wie to karma

Meditative states align chakras,

I Kapuweta thru the head of my pen to launch a "Rocket Love".

Like ink, my lifeline bleeds healing words.

Breathe..as Mr. Rogers sings,

"It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood...",

Roy Barnes and Jimmy Carter make big money.

While Jamil Al-Amin fathers armed resistance

In the West End MARTA train station,

Patiently waiting for Jesus,

The crucified continue to barter our lives,

Led to slaughter by this 9 to $5.25/forty hours a week

We grind. Brainwashed and pacified by Red-40

Yellow dye #5, fluoride, tainted bovine and swine,

Inferior living conditions, addiction, prisons, Christmas,

And these jive ass politicians

Who have their bowed head so far up

Their asinine narrow minded perspective,

They can't breathe or see the future for all the bullshit.

From the pulpit mouths blow the same foul wind

Thru the same dogmatic passages that remain

Blocked by the same phallic symbol,

We continue to swallow.

Our mouths are full but our bodies remain hollow.

Breathe! Baby, you got to...,

'Cause my all natural soul food

Serves imagery like a waiter

Performing the Heimlich maneuver on the future.

Baby you got to breathe...

I remember standing at the bottom of the pool

Viewing the sky thru12 feet of water,

5 years young wonder-ing

Why does life appear more beautiful thru rippling blue?

Niggas are drowning in their blues.

Out a phone booth (trumpets...),

It's S O U L T R O N to the rescue...

Waving an awesome arsenal of golden glow allegories

That cut like knives and double

As lifesavers/medical supplies

For my people in Mozambique surviving

Thru disease and devastation from floodwater rising.

Baby you got to breathe... In 2000,

The red tide is choking niggas who reside 20 minutes

From the ocean, but don't know how to swim.

I stretch...out metaphorical limbs

To reach nigga living around the corner from the library,

But don't know to read between the lines of red that marks you 40% off retail.

3/5 Compromised down the Mississippi to sharecroppers

Chopping on-line jobs instead of cotton.

Baby you got to breathe...

Lacking self-knowledge asphyxiates starving minds.

Beautiful black babies innocently watch

Syndicated reruns of Tarzan dominate the "un"civilized.

Federally funded slick Internet 64 byte

White collars use tax dollars to insert genocide,

Like a joystick, deep into the spine of the impoverished.

Minds held hostage by liquor stores and fast food chains,

While Mr. Rogers sings,

"It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood...",

Corrupt cops cross crooked lines drawn by the same bent rulers. Momma cries,

'Cause hot boy/caged birds are on fire in the parking lot,

Mocking the older players hustling in apartment 4-A.

Say BLOOD, "R UNN ING..."

Running thru the woods, hollering "Whooty whoo!"

As background vocals for the soundtrack of your life.

While Mr. Rogers sings,

"It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood...",

Coca-Cola red dots, pink slips and yellow crime scene

Tape plot to K(ill)-mark the target.

Regardless, you got to breathe.. 'Cause, I am Soultron.

The gardener sowing seeds, saturating the land

With an evergreen elliptical lexicon

So that O2 is the bi-product of my self-expression,

Resurrecting the breath of life to end this endless funeral procession.

We get so used to oppression, most deny the pain and bleed to death

When you take the pressure away.

To take back your freedom, ... You got to breathe...

Everyone from Decatur to Lebanon, you got to know

There's more to life than these ghetto art galleries

Housing stitched live and broken dreams.

You got to breathe...
