Born: February 9, 1975

Education:

Academic Diploma -  McNair High School - Atlanta, GA 1993

Profession:

Poet/Writer, Performing Artist/Entrepreneur

At age of 22, Yohannes Sharriff Smithhas written and published his first work of poetry and short stories.  His book entitled T.H.I.N.C. (Teaching Humanity In New Consciousness): The Chrysalis of Evolution is not only a remarkable literary accomplishment, but its publication is also a noteworthy feat. Mr. Smith formed a corporation, Intuit Creative Ideas Manifested, Inc. (I.C.I.M., Inc.) based on his philosophy of life to publish his work, through his solely  owned publishing enterprise, Intuit Publishing Company.  In America today, such accomplishments by young African American men are rarely aired in the electronic or print media.  We must assume they are rare making Mr. Smith's budding accomplishments all the more noteworthy.

Mr. Smith participated in the Connecticut Poetry Festival and the 1997 National Poetry Slam.  He is a contestant in the upcoming 1998 International Poetry Slam to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa.  In addition to running a growing business concern and performing, Mr. Smith conducts an educational outreach poetry program in the DeKalb County School, as part of his enterprise's nonprofit operations.  Mr. Smith is seriously considering running for public office in the near future.  It is a necessary adjunct to his firm commitment to and belief in individual responsibility and participation in the resolution of societal problems in the interest of global welfare.
